He was born in 1950 in Konya Ereğli. He is the first child of a father who graduated from a village institute and a housewife mother. He completed elementary school in Uşak, Ereğli, Ankara and Adana. He completed secondary school at Mersin Atatürk secondary school and high school education at Tevfik Sırrı Gür High School in 1968.

He graduated from Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1974. He completed his residency at the same faculty and after the service as a chief assistant for 3 years andfulfilled his military service at Denizli Military Hospital. He worked at Mersin State Hospital for 28 years starting from 1982. He retired in 2008 and started to work at Private Yenişehir Hospital. He is still in this position.
